China’s Grain Imports Accelerating Again

Chinese seaborne grain imports continued to grow rapidly in 2014, registering a 16.5% year-on-year increase to total 87.8mt in the full year, following an 8.2% expansion in full year 2013. Overall imports rose at a robust pace during the year despite weaker import volumes of some types of grain, as well as an increase in total domestic grain output for the eleventh consecutive year.
